Jackpots! 2 Bay Area lottery Scratchers players win a combined $15 million

While most people were dreaming of big Powerball and Mega Millions wins in the Bay Area, a couple of lottery Scratchers players won a combined $15 million.

Luis Briseno claimed one of the largest recent California Lottery prizes when he scored a $10 million jackpot from a Royal Riches Scratchers he bought in Oakland, according to the California Lottery.

Briseno bought his ticket from Fruitvale Bottles & Liquor at 3715 International Blvd. Only one $10 million prize now remains, the lottery says.

In Fremont, Catalina Velasco uncovered a $5 million jackpot on a Double the Luck Scratchers she picked up in Fremont, the lottery said. Her lucky ticket came from the ARCO AM/PM store at 43500 Grimmer Blvd.

Both retailers will be awarded bonus prizes for selling the jackpot tickets.

Meanwhile, Friday night’s estimated jackpot in the Mega Millions draw is up to $381 million.
