With wildfires continuing to rage across the Amazon, Brazilian authorities faced a new threat when illegal loggers opened fire on police officers. Nobody was hurt but the suspects escaped. Police destroyed their equipment. Illegal logging, farming and mining are big problems in the Amazon, destroying thousands of square miles of forest every year.
