Driverless Waymo cars to begin testing at SFO

Waymo is getting the green light to test out its self-driving vehicles at San Francisco International Airport.

The testing includes three phases.

Waymo first will be testing vehicles with a safety driver. Company employees and airport staff will then take rides using the service in the second phase. And in the final stage, regular riders will be able to call the autonomous vehicles.

There were no details on how long each phase will take.

San Jose Mineta International Airport is also currently testing Waymo service.
