Driver killed after colliding with bus in West Hollywood

A search is underway in Santa Barbara County for a 9-year-old girl who has been missing for a year.

According to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s office, they are seeking the public’s help in locating the at-risk child, Melodee Buzzard.

The department first began investigating her disappearance on Oct. 14 after a school administrator reported that Melodee had been absent for a long time.

Authorities attempted to speak with the child’s mother, Ashlee Buzzard, but they did not find the child.

“No clear explanation was provided for her whereabouts,” the department said.

According to the department, there have been no confirmed recent sightings of the child. The last verified contact with her was a year ago and her most recent photo was taken two years ago.

Detectives urge anyone who may have seen Melodee or had any contact with her in the past year to come forward.

“Even small details may be critical in helping investigators ensure her safety,” the department said.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Sheriff’s detectives at 805-681-4150. Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous can call the tip line at 805-681-4171 or submit information online at SBSheriff.org.
