After going big for Thanksgiving and Black Friday, many people were going small Saturday.
On this Small Business Saturday, many Bay Area shoppers made it a point to do some of their holiday spending at local stores.
According to the Small Business Administration, small businesses nationwide employ roughly half of the private sector workforce, so by shopping locally, people are also helping keep jobs in their community.
Hundreds breezed through downtown Campbell Saturday to support small businesses.
Kim Schauer says she made it a point to buy her daughter’s Christmas present at a local store on this small business Saturday.
“I love to support mom and Pops. They work so hard to put something beautiful and unique in our community,” Schauer said.
Simply Smashing, which sells mostly local products, has been in Campbell 25 years. Owner Deb Rohzen says she sees more customers on Small Business Saturdays and often the new customers will return to shop in other months.
