Recent IRS numbers revealed that the average tax refund in February was 32% lower than last year.
As of Feb. 14, the average refund was $2,169 this year compared to $3,207 in 2024.
February’s numbers did not include anyone who gets the earned income tax or the additional child tax credit, so refunds could increase as tax season goes on.
