Vandals covered a lot of ground overnight in an extreme and expensive case of vandalism that left at least 50 cars with shattered windows in Whittier and possibly other communities.
The cars were vandalized Thursday night all over the city of Whittier. Early Friday, police were still tallying up the damage.
Calls about the vandalized cars flooded the Whittier Police Department from about 10 p.m. to 11:40 p.m. Police are asking anyone with video of the crimes, possibly from home security camera videos, to contact authorities.
All cars had their windows shattered, possibly having been shot with a BB gun, police said.
The investigation is ongoing, as neighboring cities like La Habra and West Whittier could have also been hit. The vandalism happened at about the same time someone fired a BB gun at three men standing in a driveway.
The men were not seriously injured.
No information about a motive for the crime, or about a suspect or suspects, was immediately available.
