Millions of Americans will lose critical nutrition and food benefits by the end of the week if the federal government shutdown continues.
The Trump administration says funding will run out for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) on Nov. 1 unless the federal government shutdown ends before then.
In the meantime, leaders in Alameda County are trying to help out. The county Board of Supervisors is expected to approve an additional $10 million for organizations like the Alameda County Community Food Bank to help people who can’t afford groceries on their own.
