3 people hospitalized following shooting at Yorba Linda RV park

Three people, including the suspected gunman, were hospitalized on Sunday following a shooting at a Yorba Linda park, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

The incident happened sometime around 3:30 p.m. at Featherly Regional Park, the sheriff’s department said.

An altercation broke out earlier in the day between the suspected gunman and one of the victims. The gunman later returned to the park and attempted to run someone over before getting out and opening fire, according to Sgt. Gerard McCann. The man struck two individuals before turning the gun on themselves, said McCann.

The shooting appears to be an isolated event with no threat to the public at this time, police said.

Law enforcement is asking the public to avoid the area as investigators assess the scene.

A fourth person was injured by the vehicle and treated at the scene.

Many families were at Canyon RV Park for a three-day car event. One witness said she and her daughter took cover in their RV when shots rang out.

Officials did not detail the severity of the injuries of those who were hospitalized. The identities of the individuals hospitalized were not immediately available.
