An 18-year-old was arrested Friday after officers found drugs and guns inside a backpack in his vehicle during a traffic stop in San Mateo, police said.
Police said they arrested 18-year-old Carron Patterson following a traffic stop in the intersection of Delaware Street and 25th Avenue just after 1:30 p.m.
According to authorities, the traffic stop was initiated after officers saw an open bottle of tequila inside Patterson’s vehicle and smelled a strong odor of fresh marijuana.
During the search, officers found a black backpack in the back seat. Officials said the backpack contained a Glock pistol with a multi-burst trigger, an extended magazine and a round in the chamber of the pistol.
Police reported also finding two scales and packaging materials associated with drug sales, psilocybin mushrooms, 17 oxycodone pills and marijuana.
Patterson was then arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail, according to police.
