San Jose police early Friday were investigating a fatal solo vehicle crash into a tree.
At about 1:40 a.m., firefighters responded to the 2700 block of Moorpark Avenue, near South Monroe Street, and found a black sedan had slammed into a tree, authorities said.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
The scene was not far from a previous crash that left one person dead an another injured in April. In that crash, the vehicle overturned.
